   Enzymes

Brand Name Type Of Enzyme Substrate Attacked Application
Biolase DZ(Liquid) Amylase Starch and other sizes Desizing Processes of cotton fabrics
Advantage :
Complete removal of starch and other sizes containing size without fibre damage is
best obtained by using biolase DZ / Biolase DZ Liq.
Higher whiteness after scouring and bleaching and lower defects in dyeing.
Eliminates patchy effects due to even desizing
Higher uptake of dye
Softens the garment to prevent abrasion and creases where hard crease marks
    have resulted from folding
Increased biodegradability of effluent
Process flexibility
Less handling of aggressive chemicals
Recommended as pretreatment before stone wash / bio wash
Biolase DZ is available in both liquid and powder form but the preferences today is for liquid amylase preparations for ecological reasons and to eliminate dusting and sensitization.
Brand Name Type Of Enzyme Substrate Attacked Application
Biolase AC Acid Cellulase Cellulose Bio-wash / stone wash effects for denim
Biolase NC Neutral cellulase Cellulose Bio-wash for production of high colours, contrasts and abraded fashion effects in denim
Advantages :
Excellent puckering effect
Prevention of damage to machine capacity and garments as fewer / no pumice
    stones  are used.
Increase in capacity utilization of equipment.
Less or no effluent treatment
Ease of process control
Better garment feel / finish
No environment pollution as in the case of pumice stones
Improved water absorbency
Biolase NC is particularly recommended for very high level of abrasion with no backstaining
Brand Name Type Of Enzyme Substrate Attacked Application
Biolase BPL Cellulose Enzyme  Cellulose

Bio-finishing and bio-polishing of cotton fabrics to remove fuzz. Also inexpensive abrasion effects on denim.

Biopolishing is a cellulase enzyme treatment designed to improve fabric quality - used on cotton, linen, rayon, LyoCell etc.
Biolase BPL is a versatile product and is suitable for softening, abrasion effects, surface polishing, surface fibre removal, depilling on a variety of cellulosic fibre and garments using small dosages.

Advantages :
Clearer, lint and fuzz free surface structure
Improved pilling resistance
Improved drape ability handle and softness (particularly when combined with
    softner)
Enduring effects even after repeated wear and laundering
Better water pick up

Biolase BPL is also recommended for defibrillation. It can be used for biostoning / stonewash of denim - cheaper range as backstaining occurs.
Brand Name Type Of Enzyme Substrate Attacked Application
Biolase DGS Protease Sericin Degumming of silk
The fibroin filaments of cocoon silk are naturally gummed together with protein sericin. The removal of this sericin is called degumming and various degumming agent are used. Enzyme degumming involves proteolytic degrading of sericin using a specific protease which does not attack the fibroin unlike traditional degumming using acids or soap and soda.
Advantages of enzymatic degumming over conventional degumming:
Finishing silk is smoother, softer and lustrous
Silk affinity to reactive dyes is also significantly improved
Less strength loss of silk fibre
Shorter and milder operating conditions
Energy efficient
Effluent with lower BOD / COD
Does not require bath temperature to be heated substantially
